The Benefits of Including Yoga in a Bootcamp Program and Yoga FAQ.
You may have heard that yoga is now being offered at the Fulcrum Fitness-Forest Heights location.
Whether you’ve been attending our bootcamps for a while or you are new to working out, you might be experiencing tight, sore muscles, and overall stiffness of joints. This is your body’s natural response to intense physical activity.
Maybe you have always wanted to try yoga, but the gym you belonged to didn’t offer it.
It’s also possible that you are interested in new ways of toning your body and increasing your overall flexibility.
Yoga addresses all of these things, and now your membership at Fulcrum Fitness also includes it at no additional cost.
Whether you are new to yoga or already practice, the time has never been better to stop in and try it at our new location.
Sign up to the class time of your choice, currently only offered at Forest Heights. Come prepared to move through a series of standing, balance, and other postures that will help tone your body, increase your flexibility and balance, and leave you feeling calmer and less stressed.
Check out the online schedule to find a time that works best for you, and we’ll see you soon!
FAQ
Do I need to bring a mat?
While it’s preferable that you bring your own mat, we do have work out mats that can substitute for a yoga mat.
What type of shoes do I need to wear?
Yoga is best performed barefoot or with minimalist footwear (barefoot shoes such as Vibrams).
What type of clothes should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict your movement but also will not fall away and reveal too much if you find yourself upside down or in a similar posture. Your usual workout clothes will probably be just fine.
What if I think I can’t do yoga because I’m not that flexible?
Yoga is for anyone regardless of your flexibility. The only difference between a flexible person and a tight person is that a flexible person has to go farther into a stretch in order to feel something.
Everyone’s body is different, and we are all at different levels of fitness, strength, and flexibility. The purpose of yoga is not to be as flexible as other people in the class or the instructor; the purpose of yoga is to find your own personal limitations, and through deep breathing and focus, push beyond them.
When you do yoga, it’s referred to as “practicing.” This is because all poses are endless, and you will never reach a point where there is no longer a benefit to be obtained from your practice.
What else should I know about yoga practice?
Know that it is polite and respectful to silence your cell phone before class, and impolite to arrive late, or leave early. Be aware that these actions can disrupt the focus of others in the class.
